ETCHANT
SOLUTIONS:
Etchant solutions are used to strip away surplus copper from the printed circuit boards producing a spent etchant saturated with copper salts.
This spent etchant is processed chemically to regenerate fresh etchant and provide copper products. These are used mainly in the wood preservative industry. This process is consistent with the FIS Environmental Policy.
Our in-house capability can recover the following metals from aqueous solutions, catalysts and contaminated solids;
- Copper
- Nickel
- Tin

ABOUT THIS SERVICE:
This expertise is extended to processing other copper bearing materials in the manufacture of copper compounds, most notably copper oxide and basic copper carbonate.
Our expertise extends to both bespoke chemical plant and process design. We can undertake investigation programmes to develop processes from laboratory through to pilot plant, and full scale processes such as recovery of Iodine from contaminated solids.
Services are supported by in-house expertise in chemical plant design and the preparation of appropriate documentation necessary for relevant authorisations and licensing.
The work with copper etchants has led to further investigations into other materials linked with the Electronic, Metal plating and Chemical manufacture industry.
