Augean has published its latest ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) Report, marking a major step forward from its previous CSR reporting. The new framework highlights Augean’s growing focus on transparency, responsible operations, and measurable sustainability progress.
Evolving from CSR to ESG
Since 2005, Augean has reported annually on its corporate responsibility performance. This latest report moves to a full ESG structure — aligning with international standards and reflecting the company’s broader environmental and social impact goals. The shift provides stakeholders with clearer insights into how Augean manages emissions, safety, people, and governance.
Key Highlights
- Environmental performance: Augean managed over 1 million tonnes of hazardous waste in 2023. Total gross emissions (including landfill fugitive gases) were 27,548 tCO₂e, reflecting both business growth and expanded monitoring.
- People & culture: Over £400,000 was invested in employee training, with more than half of all employees receiving professional development. The company continues to strengthen diversity, safety, and wellbeing initiatives.
- Governance: Augean maintained strong compliance across all sites and responded to 100% of complaints within its 28-day target. Board oversight and risk management remain key priorities.
Looking Ahead
Augean’s future ESG roadmap includes setting science-based carbon targets, expanding Scope 3 reporting, moving to renewable electricity, and introducing more electric vehicles across its fleet. The company also plans to align all sites under one integrated ESG management system by 2026.
